David Eisenthal – Candidate Board of Education

David set down roots in Manchester with his wife, Sandra Dickerson, because it is a diverse and dynamic place with a high quality of life. He has two young adult sons, Alex and Jack, who live in New York City.

David is running for the Board of Education because he believes that the Manchester Public Schools can and should be a showpiece for our town and he recognizes the value of education for all of Manchester’s children. He has the experience and skills to work with other BOE members and other stakeholders to provide a high quality of education for all MPS students while stewarding the Town’s financial resources efficiently and responsibly. As part of a racially diverse family, David resolutely supports efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the Manchester Public Schools – and more generally in the Town. He believes that such efforts benefit all segments of the Manchester community.

David is a public finance professional, advising cities, towns, and districts in a number of states, including Connecticut, on financing capital and operations. His more than 30 years of professional experience has included assisting local governments on the financing of school construction projects. His professional experience, along with his experience as an elected and appointed local official, gives him familiarity with the operations of local governments.

Before he moved to Connecticut, David lived in Massachusetts, where he served on the School Committee (Board of Education) of the Town of Sharon, Massachusetts and on the Board of Selectmen of the Town of West Brookfield, Massachusetts, where he served for a time as Chair.

He also served as an appointed member of the Permanent Building Committee of the Town of Framingham, Massachusetts. He was also active in Democratic politics in Massachusetts, serving on the Democratic Town Committees in Sharon and West Brookfield.

David joined the Manchester Democratic Town Committee in 2020 as a way to become more active in the Manchester community; he has served on the DTC Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity and Platform subcommittees.

David has a Bachelor of Arts from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
