Dennis Schain
Dennis Schain is a long-time Manchester resident who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Boston University and a Master’s in Management from Rensselaer’s Hartford Graduate Center.
Dennis began his career as a journalist covering local and regional news for Connecticut daily newspapers. He went on to work in both the private sector – where he held public and community relations positions at leading Connecticut companies – and in state government where he served as the Communications Director and spokesman for a Governor and then for the State’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
Dennis and his wife, Karen, have two adult children – who are graduates of Manchester’s public school system – and four grandchildren.
Since his election to the Board of Directors in 2019, Dennis has worked to keep moving Manchester forward – to make this the most welcoming, diverse, attractive, and vibrant community possible. At the same time, he’s supported efforts to provide the full range of town programs and services people here have come to expect – at a price tag that keeps our community affordable. He also believes we must make certain our social service network can continue to provide assistance to those in need.
Dennis has also been focused on sustainability. He led efforts to install solar power on numerous town and school buildings, to preserve important open space lands, and to improve the town’s trail network.
He also advocated for the new library on Main St., and construction of the skate park at Charter Oak Park.
